Environment

When enclosures are

miscabled using a universal

(non-keyed) cable, a single-SP

panic will always occur.

Always under a specific set of

circumstances

If an output port on an

enclosure is cabled to

another output port using a

universal cable, the SAS

discovery process does

not complete, eventually

resulting in an SP panic.

Check cabling

carefully. The cables

are keyed to prevent

accidental miscabling.

Should this situation

occur, correcting the

cabling issues fixes the

problem.

If you configure the back-end

cables in a loop that

encompasses two or more

enclosures, the cable fault

LEDs do not correctly light up.

When you configure a

closed loop of three or four

DAEs on one side of the

storage system, the fault

LEDs do not light on all

DAEs in the loop. In spite

of this defect, the

Navisphere cabling

diagram is drawn correctly,

and the correct fault code

(alert) is returned.

An example would be a

closed loop: DAE1 -->

DAE2 --> DAE3 --> DAE1.

The problem arises only

for two or more loops since

the expander is unable to

detect loops of two or

more. Note that LEDs are

correct for less than two

loops.

Navisphere correctly

alerts you to the

miscabling issue.

Check the cabling for

problems.
